Hannah's
House meets an unexpected pregnancy with unconditional
love, compassion and hope. We provide a safe
home and support services while working together
with our community. Services are provided in
a family atmosphere, free of charge, by qualified
and trained individuals who are loving, caring
and committed to help without judgment.
Spiritual Nurturing
We strive to create an environment where young
women can explore their choices and be given
a safe place to "soul search." We recognize
that lives will be transformed by a holistic
approach:
· Mind
· Body
· Soul
The home atmosphere of Hannah's House assists
in nurturing the spiritual life of each young
woman.
Physical Care
Residents receive referrals for health care
to meet their physical needs during their pregnancy.
We provide a mentor approach to assist them
in their decision making process.
Emotional Healing
Counseling for each resident is offered and
encouraged. Personalized inner-healing is a
focus for each resident.
Education
Assistance with assessing and pursuing basic
education alternatives are provided. Vocational
and career counseling are also offered to all
residents, as well as childbirth education to
both residents and birth fathers. Life skill
training includes a variety of topics such as
nutrition, budgeting, cooking, parenting and
goal setting. Other classes are offered as residents
have specific needs or show interest.
Adoption Education
We believe that knowledge empowers women to
make informed decisions. To that end, we offer
adoption education to all mothers in our home,
birth fathers, grandparents, potential adoptive
families, churches and our community.
Friendship
We believe in relationship building and assist
women with cultivating supportive relationships
with
· Other residents
· Mentor moms
· Caring staff
Follow-up Care
We support and encourage young women after they
give birth to their babies. For residents who
choose adoption, we ask they return for six
to eight weeks of continued counseling and support.
For those who choose to keep their babies and
have no family support, we will refer residents
to a stable family to take in both mother and
baby. Prior to leaving Hannah's House, each
resident will be paired with a mentor early
in her process who will remain in a relationship
with her through the years.
Partnerships
Our ministry is geared to fill a need in our
community, enhancing rather than duplicating
services already provided by other organizations.
We coordinate our efforts by partnering with
organizations that also support women facing
unplanned pregnancies.
