Mustard Seed Christmas Tree
A Mustard Seed Tree goes on display at York Minster as part of the Christmas Tree Festival.
This year the Mustard Seed team were invited to decorate a Christmas Tree at the York Minster’s annual Christmas Tree Festival. The festival runs from Saturday 29th November 2025-Monday 5th January 2026 and includes over 70 trees from local charities, schools and organisations.
The Mustard Seed tree has been decorated to showcase the range of different types of mission being delivered across our Mustard Seed churches and communities. The white birds on the tree represent our Mustard Seed Community, of which over 100 people have now completed the Stepping Up programme and 75 are now engaged in mission in their church communities, with more still yet to come!
They also remind us of The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13:31-32):
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
Please come and see our tree before the festival finishes on Monday 5th January 2026 and join us in celebrating all that God is doing in our Mustard Seed communities. Members of the Mustard Seed Community are welcome to enter York Minster for free, just make yourself known to the staff on the door. Take a photo of yourself with the tree and send it to us at mustard.seed@yorkdiocese.org.
