Shining Lights on Bilton Grange

Enid and Yvonne worship at St Michael’s Church in Cherry Burton. Inspired by stories of what was growing in Mustard Seed churches in Hull they wanted to find out more, particularly where support is being offered to local families and children.

Enid and a team of Cherry Burton ladies made and sold hundreds of Easter chicks and bunnies with eggs inside raising £500, which has been donated to the Little Lights group on Bilton Grange. (Click here to read more about Little Lights)

A recent visit to Little Lights was a wonderful opportunity for the two groups of ladies to talk and share together. Enid and Yvonne chatted over cups of tea and joined in the family time with a bible story, songs and prayers.

“I was truly moved by my visit to Little Lights; listening to the life stories of Sam, Teresa and Wendy; three remarkable women who had individually found their way through the church door. The ladies have used their own unique strengths and determination to build a welcoming and non judgmental family group and foodbank; offering support and strengthening the community in which they live. Each are shining lights!” Yvonne

“The Little Lights team are doing remarkable work in the church and for the Bilton Grange area. It was a privilege to be able to visit and to feel so welcome. Every lady made a huge contribution to the activities and I left feeling very humble and full of admiration of their hard work and care. Well done everyone and keep up the good work!” Enid.

Giving and receiving is at the heart of the Ambassadors programme. Yvonne and Enid gave the £500 donation from Cherry Burton to support Little Lights and left St Philip’s with full hearts.
